SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued severe weather alerts for this weekend, with damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes possible in the area.
Residents are advised to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions starting Saturday afternoon and continuing through Sunday night.

The NWS reports that scattered thunderstorms are likely to develop Saturday afternoon, posing risks of up to 60 mph winds, quarter-sized hail, and isolated tornadoes in areas marked under a “Slight” risk level. The highest likelihood of severe storms lies in regions shaded yellow on the NWS map, which includes areas north of San Angelo. Rainfall may be locally heavy but is not expected to cause widespread flooding on Saturday.
However, excessive rainfall is forecast to increase Saturday night and into Sunday. A “Slight” risk of flash flooding is projected for areas north of Interstate 20, where rainfall could accumulate up to 2 inches, raising concerns for flash flooding in low-lying areas such as streets, creeks, and streams. NWS advises residents to exercise caution, avoiding driving on water-covered roads.

Alongside damaging winds and hail, the potential for multiple tornadoes exists, with the “Slight” risk level expanding into the Big Country.
