SAN ANGELO, TX - Temperatures across West Central Texas are expected to remain above normal through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.
Highs will hover in the mid-90s, with slight chances for rain and thunderstorms starting Sunday and into next week.
In San Angelo, temperatures are forecasted to reach 96°F on Friday, 95°F on Saturday, and remain in the upper 80s to low 90s through the weekend. A cooling trend is expected early next week, with highs dropping into the low 80s by Monday. Other cities, such as Abilene and Junction, will also see similar patterns, with highs around 95°F on Saturday before cooling down on Monday.
Overnight lows will remain mild, ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s through the weekend. By Monday night, temperatures in some areas could dip into the upper 50s, providing some relief from the heat.
Rain chances begin to increase Sunday, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms forecast for the afternoon in San Angelo. According to the NWS, rainfall totals are expected to range from 0.1 to 1 inch across much of the region, with the highest chances for rain continuing through midweek.
Residents should be prepared for high heat indices reaching 100°F in some areas through Saturday, particularly during peak afternoon hours. Cooler, fall-like temperatures are expected to settle in by Wednesday.
