SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has released an excessive rainfall outlook for West Central Texas today, with thunderstorms expected to bring significant rainfall, particularly in the southern part of the region.
Rainfall amounts are predicted to range from 0.5 to 1.5 inches, with localized areas potentially experiencing higher totals.
Heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding of streets, creeks, streams, and other low-lying areas. Residents are advised to exercise caution, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and remember the adage: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
The probability of precipitation varies across the region this week. Today, San Angelo has a 65% chance of rain, while Junction and Ozona face a 75% likelihood. Rain chances decrease as the week progresses, with isolated showers and thunderstorms expected mainly south of I-20.
Temperatures will be cooler today but are expected to rise throughout the week. San Angelo’s highs will range from 90°F today to 95°F by Thursday. The region will see warmer temperatures and reduced rain chances later in the week.
