SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of west central Texas, including southwestern Coke County, southeastern Sterling County, and north central Tom Green County.
The warning is in effect until 6:30 p.m.
At 5:48 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was detected near U.S. Highway 87 at the Coke-Tom Green County line, near Broome. The storm is nearly stationary, information stated.
The main hazards from this storm include wind gusts up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail.
These conditions pose risks of damage to roofs, siding, and trees, according to radar indications.
Areas expected to be affected by the storm include Water Valley, Broome, and the vicinity of U.S. Highway 87 near the Coke-Tom Green County line.
