SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has released a forecast indicating isolated thunderstorms and high temperatures across West Central Texas today.
Areas from Big Lake to Eldorado to Junction and southward are expected to experience these weather conditions.
The primary hazards associated with these thunderstorms include gusty winds and dangerous lightning.
High temperatures will be prevalent throughout the region, with San Angelo expected to reach a high of 97°F. Other areas such as Sterling City and Ballinger will also see temperatures near 97°F, while Junction is forecasted to have a high of 94°F. The temperature is expected to peak between 3 and 6 p.m.
Despite a mild start to the day, with morning lows in the lower to mid-70s, temperatures will gradually climb to the low to mid-90s by afternoon. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible south of a Barnhart to Sonora line. Although severe weather is not anticipated, gusty winds, dangerous lightning, and brief moderate rainfall may occur.
The extended forecast for the region indicates mostly sunny conditions with minimal impacts through the rest of the week. Morning lows will remain in the lower to mid-70s, with afternoon highs reaching the mid to upper 90s. On Saturday, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, but the overall weather impact is expected to be minimal.
