San Angelo to Face Scorching Heat This Week

SAN ANGELO, TX - San Angelo and surrounding areas are expected to experience extremely high temperatures this week, with forecasts predicting daily highs exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the temperature in San Angelo is expected to reach 103 degrees, with other areas experiencing similar conditions.

The NWS forecast indicates that from Tuesday through Friday, residents should prepare for very hot weather. Afternoon highs will range from 100 to 106 degrees, with morning lows remaining in the mid to upper 70s. South winds of 10 to 15 mph, with occasional higher gusts, will provide minimal relief from the heat.

Residents are advised to take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. The NWS emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated, wearing loose-fitting clothing, and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.

Symptoms of heat exhaustion include dizziness, heavy sweating, nausea, and weakness. If these symptoms occur, it is crucial to move to a cooler area, loosen clothing, and sip cool water.

In cases of heat stroke, which can present with confusion, dizziness, and unconsciousness, immediate medical attention is necessary.

The NWS also reminds residents never to leave children or pets in vehicles, as temperatures inside a car can rise rapidly to dangerous levels.

Suggestions to prevent such tragedies include placing a bag or stuffed animal in the front seat as a reminder to check the backseat before exiting the vehicle.

Towards the end of the week, there is a slight chance of isolated to scattered storms on Friday, which may bring some relief from the high temperatures.

However, afternoon highs are still expected to reach the mid-90s.
