Hot Weather to Persist in San Angelo Area This Week

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Weather Service has forecasted another scorching week for San Angelo and surrounding areas, with temperatures expected to reach triple digits through the weekend. 

Residents are urged to take precautions as the heat index will elevate the perceived temperatures, making conditions even more hazardous.

 

Monday is expected to be sunny and hot with a high near 100 degrees Fahrenheit. South-southeast winds will blow around 5 mph. Tonight will remain mostly clear, with a low around 77 degrees and south-southeast winds increasing to around 10 mph.

The heat intensifies on Tuesday, with a high near 101 degrees and heat index values soaring as high as 104 degrees. South winds of 5 to 10 mph, gusting up to 20 mph, will offer little relief. The night will stay mostly clear with a low around 78 degrees and south winds around 10 mph.

Wednesday brings more sun and heat, with temperatures expected to peak near 102 degrees. The south wind will be around 5 mph. The night will again be mostly clear, with lows around 78 degrees and southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph.

The heat will continue to rise on Thursday, with highs near 103 degrees and south-southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph. Nighttime temperatures will drop slightly to 77 degrees with gusty winds reaching up to 20 mph.

Friday’s forecast mirrors Thursday, with highs around 102 degrees. South winds will be stronger at 10 mph, gusting up to 20 mph. The night will remain mostly clear, with a low around 77 degrees and south winds of 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

 

With such extreme temperatures, the NWS advises residents to practice heat safety. This includes staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, and checking on vulnerable populations such as the elderly and pets. Additionally, never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles, as temperatures can quickly become lethal.
