San Angelo Native Submits Record Blue Catfish in Winters

 

WINTERS, TX — Texas Parks and Wildlife Inland Fisheries San Angelo District recently featured one Texas angler for his blue catfish catch.

Levi Heffner submitted a blue catfish for a water body record on Winters-Elm Creek Lake. Heffner caught a 3.15 lb blue catfish on Saturday, June 15.

Does anyone out there think that they can beat Heffner's catch? Winters-Elm Creek Lake is located on County Road 167, about six miles east of the city of Winters. The lake features a concrete boat ramp and fishing dock.

A day pass is required to fish at the lake and costs $3 a day. The day pass can be purchased at Elm Creek Bait and Tackle (325-723-2081).

The lake is open year-round and features RV and tent camping sites. The City of Winters operates the lake grounds, and more information can be found by calling 325-754-4424. Remember, the state requires resident fishing licenses for any resident who fishes in the public waters of Texas
