Heat Advisory Issued, Temps to Soar to 107 Degrees

 

SAN ANGELO, TX  — The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a heat advisory, effective from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, as temperatures are expected to soar to 107 degrees. 

The advisory affects several counties, including Sterling, Coke, Runnels, Irion, Tom Green, Concho, Crockett, Schleicher, Sutton, Coleman, Brown, McCulloch, San Saba, Menard, Kimble, and Mason.

Residents in these areas should prepare for heat index values reaching up to 108 degrees and actual temperatures climbing to 107 degrees.

The NWS warns that the high temperatures and humidity may lead to heat-related illnesses. 

They urge residents to take precautionary measures such as staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and checking on vulnerable individuals, including the elderly and children. 

Additionally, the advisory emphasizes never leaving children or pets in enclosed vehicles, as interiors can quickly reach lethal temperatures.

  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny and hot, high near 102°F, south-southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, becoming east in the afternoon.
  • Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, low around 73°F, east-southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Thursday: Sunny and hot, high near 103°F, south-southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, low around 74°F, east-southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny and hot, high near 100°F, south-wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Friday Night: Partly cloudy, low around 74°F, east-southeast wind around 10 mph.
