Rain Chances Increase Heading Into the Weekend

SAN ANGELO Texas — Some patchy fog is possible Thursday morning across west central Texas with rain chances increasing through the weekend.  The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of west central Texas, effective immediately and continuing through the weekend.

Expect isolated to scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, particularly east of a Sweetwater to Sonora line including the San Angelo area. Some of these storms have the potential to become severe, bringing large hail and damaging winds as the primary hazards. Additionally, locally heavy rainfall and dangerous lightning are expected.

The potential for thunderstorms persists across much of the area Friday through the weekend. Some storms may escalate to strong or severe levels, with large hail and damaging winds posing significant threats. Dangerous lightning and locally heavy rainfall are also anticipated during this period.

Patchy fog is expected between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. today, with mostly cloudy conditions gradually clearing by mid-morning. High temperatures near 93°F are forecasted with a south wind of 5 to 10 mph. Thursday night brings a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., with some storms potentially becoming severe. Mostly clear skies are expected with a low around 64°F, and winds shifting from south to east after midnight.

Looking ahead to Friday, a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecasted after 1 p.m., with partly sunny skies and a high near 90°F. The chance of precipitation continues into Saturday night, with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, particularly between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. Breezy conditions are expected, with an east-southeast wind of 15 to 20 mph and gusts as high as 30 mph.

Sunday brings a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with partly sunny conditions and a high near 81°F. South-southeast winds around 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph, are anticipated. Rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are expected, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
