SAN ANGELO, Texas – A warm and dry day is in store for the Concho Valley with their possibility of thunderstorms north of the area Wednesday night.
As the day progresses, isolated thunderstorms are expected to bubble up along the dryline in the eastern Permian Basin and South Plains, potentially spreading eastward into the Big Country and northern Concho Valley by evening. These storms carry the potential for severity, with conditions ripe for hail up to 2 inches in diameter and winds reaching speeds of up to 70 mph.
Beyond the storm threat, the day is forecasted to be warm with temperatures reaching the 80s, and some areas in the Concho Valley could even hit 90 degrees. Southerly winds will persist, ushering moisture into the region and leading to the redevelopment of low clouds tonight. Temperatures will remain mild overnight, with lows ranging from the mid to upper 60s, aided by cloud cover and south winds of 10 to 20 mph maintaining a mixed atmosphere.
Looking ahead to the long term, severe thunderstorms are anticipated Thursday night. These storms are expected to intensify across West Central Texas after midnight, posing threats of large hail and damaging winds, with a possibility of tornadoes especially in areas from the Concho Valley northward into the Big Country again. The storm activity is forecasted to diminish early Friday morning.
