Outdoor Events This Month in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo State Park will host various outdoor activities this March.

Highlights include guided hikes, a pony trail ride, and educational talks, all designed to enhance the visitor experience at the park.

Kicking off the month's activities, the park invites guests to the Bison Viewing Area on Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. for “Pelts & Pates: Skins & Skulls,” an informative session led by Ruth Jordan.

Following closely at 10:30 a.m., equestrians can join a pony trail ride to “Macey’s Grove” starting from the North Concho Equestrian Campground. If available, participants are reminded to bring their horses along with a recent “Coggins” certificate.

On the same day, a “poop and paws” guided hike is scheduled for 11 a.m., offering a way to learn about the local wildlife through their tracks and traces.

The events continue on Saturday, March 23, with Jana presenting “Perches, penthouses & partners of birds: (nests)" at 9 a.m.

Later in the morning, at 10:30 a.m., John Talley will lead “Pedal Away,” a bicycle tour starting at the playground parking lot.

Concluding the month's activities, the park will offer a “peaceful sunrise hike for Easter” on Saturday, March 30, at 7:30 a.m.

While visitors aged 13 and over must pay an entrance fee, all listed events are free of charge.

Other notable events that have already passed include a self-guided car tour with “interpretive information,” pictures of the bison and longhorns, a "parley with the park hosts," yoga in the park, and “Geocaching 101.”
