Last Freeze of the Season?

SAN ANGELO – Temperatures Saturday night are forecast to drop to freezing across the Concho Valley maybe for the final time this spring.

A cold front is set to sweep through West Texas later today, ushering in gusty north winds and cooler temperatures. Highs will range from the low to mid 60s in the Big Country to the upper 60s to mid 70s elsewhere across the Concho Valley.

Isolated to scattered showers may dot the landscape, particularly in the Big Country, as an upper-level trough passes through, though rainfall amounts are expected to be minimal. Overnight, temperatures will plummet into the mid to upper 30s, accompanied by brisk north winds of 15 to 25 mph, yielding wind chill values in the upper 20s to lower 30s by Saturday morning.

Looking ahead to Saturday night, as winds subside and skies clear, temperatures could dip to freezing in low lying areas by Sunday morning. Beyond the weekend, a generally dry weather pattern persists with occasional weak disturbances, allowing for a gradual warm-up through the middle of next week.
