SAN ANGELO, Texas — Anglers experienced a rare occurrence of double lunker catches in both west and east Texas, adding to the excitement of bass fishing enthusiasts. The remarkable catches, weighing in as Legacy Class ShareLunkers, will soon find their way to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center, managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife.
The notable fishing achievement took place at O.H. Ivie reservoir, situated 40 miles east of San Angelo, where the Concho and Colorado Rivers converge. O.H. Ivie garnered national acclaim in 2023 when it was crowned the best bass fishing lake in the nation. The other catch on the same day was at Lake Sam Rayburn.
Among the anglers making waves in the fishing community were Aaron Suess and Alec Morrison, each landing impressive catches. Suess reeled in a remarkable 13.87-pound Lunker from O.H. Ivie, while Morrison showcased his prowess by weighing in ShareLunker 655 at 13.82 pounds at Sam Rayburn.
Their contributions are not only celebrated for their remarkable catches but also for their dedication to bass conservation efforts in Texas.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department expressed gratitude to both Suess and Morrison for their invaluable contributions to the preservation and enhancement of bass populations in the region.
