SAN ANGELO – West Texas residents woke up to temperatures in the teens with wind chill values around zero Monday morning with another two days of below freezing weather in the forecast.
A wintery mix of snow and freezing rain has made roadways slick especially bridges and overpasses. More is expected to fall and those roadways will remain hazardous until they thaw Wednesday.
There is a Winter Weather Advisory an a Wind Chill Advisory in effect for the Concho Valley. Here's what you need to know Monday morning:
WHAT: For the Wind Chill Advisory, anticipate very cold wind chills as low as 5 below zero. For the Winter Weather Advisory, expect light snow with the possibility of minor snow accumulations.
WHERE: Portions of west central Texas.
WHEN: Until noon CST Monday.
IMPACTS: Very slippery sidewalks, roads, and bridges are possible, potentially affecting the morning commute.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
- Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves.
- Slow down and exercise caution while traveling. Be prepared for possible power outages.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- The latest road conditions for the state can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
- Today and Tonight: A mix of light snow, sleet, and occasional freezing drizzle has accumulated on most area roadways (except for the Big Country). Motorists should exercise caution and reduce speed while driving.
- Wind chill values are below zero this morning, warming up by midday. Another round of below-zero wind chills is expected tonight area-wide. The temperature will remain below freezing across the area until Wednesday.
