Dangerous Heat Continues All Week

SAN ANGELO – Labor Day marked the 71st day the afternoon high temperature was 100 degrees or higher this year in San Angelo.  According to NWS climate stats, eight days have reached 110 degrees or above in 2023.

The forecast for Tuesday has an afternoon high reaching 105 at Mathis Field in San Angelo so the National Weather Service office has issued a Heat Advisory for the area from noon to 9 p.m.

Use common sense when venturing outdoors.  Wear appropriate clothing and sunscreen, stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks in the shade.  Check on vulnerable friends and neighbors and never, ever leave a dog or a child in a hot car.

There is about a ten percent chance of some scattered showers in the western Concho Valley and Big Country during the evening hours but any rain that does develop will be isolated and short lived.

Expect temps to reach above 100 degrees every day through the middle of next week.  There is a slight chance of a frontal boundary shifting the weather pattern late next week.  Stay tuned.
