SAN ANGELO – Excessive heat Saturday will be pushed out of the Concho Valley by thunderstorm activity Sunday and Monday and some areas could see significant rainfall and street flooding.
A series of frontal systems is battering the ridge of high pressure over West Texas Saturday shifting winds and ending triple digit heat. A seasonal cold front will push its way into the region on Saturday increasing rain chances that will linger into early next week.
There is a 50% chance of strong thunderstorms Sunday after 1 p.m. Rainfall amounts will generally be around a tenth of an inch but the stronger storms have the potential to dump up to .5 an inch.
Sunday night the 50% chance continues with temps cooling into the mid 70s overnight.
Monday the rain chance increases to 60% with a high temperature in the mid 90s and somewhere around .50 of an inch possible with the stronger storms.
The rain chances end Tuesday. Afternoon highs will remain in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees throughout the week.
