SAN ANGELO – The Heat Advisory Friday afternoon will expire around 8 p.m. and should be the last one for a while as a series of short wave atmospheric disturbances hammer away at the heat dome baking West Texas.
The Government Weather Experts at the National Weather Service office in San Angelo have put slight chances of rain in the forecast for the next several days with the best chance of widespread rain Monday night.
A 'cold' front will make its way across the region Sunday into Tuesday cooling down temperatures and creating the conditions for up to .5 inches of rain. The rain chance Monday night now stands at 60%.
The rain will come in the form of isolated thunderstorms initially and then grow in size and intensity. Hazards will include minor street flooding and ponding of water on roadways where the rain is heaviest. No severe weather is anticipated at this time but the NWS will alert officials and the public if that changes.
There is a 20% chance of measurable precipitation Saturday and a 30% to 40% chance Sunday.
This is a dynamic and complex weather pattern so those percentages will fluctuate throughout the weekend. Temperatures will be cooler heading into next week and the Labor Day weekend.
We will update this information as significant changes require.
