SAN ANGELO – The afternoon high temperature in San Angelo Monday exceeded the forecast of 98 degrees and for the 22nd day in a row topping out at 101.
Meteorologists at the San Angelo National Weather Service office said, "With temperatures expected to stay below 100 at San Angelo today, this would end its consecutive streak of days with 100+ degree temperatures at 22 days. This would rank as the 6th highest number of consecutive days with highs 100 or above at San Angelo."
The forecast again calls for a high of 98 Tuesday afternoon after the passage of a mild 'cold' front Monday.
An isolated storm cell just northeast of San Angelo Monday evening around 7 p.m. created a strong downdraft that blew up a small dust storm that temporarily blanketed the city of San Angelo. The storm cell dumped some rain east of the city but just blew dust in town. The cloud provided a nice rainbow for a few minutes that could be seen from the right vantage point.
Conditions remain for the threat of out of control wildfires so the NWS has issued a Fire Weather Danger statement for the region.
Temperatures are forecast to reach 103 on Wednesday and then back to 107 for Thursday and Friday. There is no rain in the ten day forecast.
