Heat Warning & Wildfire Danger Advisory Could Last Through the Weekend

SAN ANGELO – The Dog Days of Summer drag on along with an Excessive Heat Warning and a Wildfire Danger Advisory which could extend through the weekend.

The Excessive Heat Warning is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and could be extended each day through Sunday as a stubborn ridge of high pressure continues to dominate weather across the western half of Texas.

Experts advise everyone take precautions when working or venturing outdoors.  Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated, wear long sleeves, sunscreen, a hat and gloves.  Take plenty of breaks in the shade or an air-conditioned room.

Be especially careful with outdoor pets and children.  Pets need lots of shade and clean water. And never leave a child or a pet in a locked car.  That's just so wrong.

The good news is that there are only 29 days left in August and temps historically subside in mid to late September.  And there's a good chance of some shower activity around the Labor Day weekend.

We will update this information in the unlikely event anything changes in the next 12 hours.
