SAN ANGELO – The triple digit heat has returned to the Concho Valley and all of West Texas and will remain in place for most of the next few months.
According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, an upper level system of high pressure will result in very hot and dry conditions across West Texas this week. Heat Advisories and or Warnings will be needed for most of the week. Highs will be in the 100 to 107 degree range with lows around 80.
Slightly cooler temperatures are possible by next weekend. There is no chance of rain in the forecast.
Typically in a wet drought year, July and August are the hottest months. San Angelo has already seen 20 days with temperatures reaching at or above 100 degrees in 2023. The record for the number of 100 degree days was set in the record drought year of 2011 with 100 days where the mercury rose to 100 or above.
Sunday's forecast high is 102 with heat index values around 106. Temps will gradually increase throughout the week. Expect a Heat Advisory to be issued for Monday and continue throughout the week.
