Young Anglers Already Hauling in Fish at New Pier from Nasworthy

SAN ANGELO, TX — The new pier that opened up recently at Lake Nasworthy has already proved to be an excellent spot for fishing. Officially opened on June 29, the pier located near the Nature Center sports several spots for anglers to cast their lines out into Lake Nasworthy at all times during the day.

Ryan Calder, a young man from San Angelo, hauled in this catfish while fishing with his father at the new pier. The catfish might not be very big yet, weighing in at 4.5 lbs, but the 11-year-old is a dedicated fisherman who will see bigger and bigger catches in the future. The new pier is a great spot for kids in San Angelo to come out with their friends and families this summer to fish and spend time with each other.

Residents in San Angelo can even fish at night. Calder said was fishing near midnight with his family when he caught the catfish from the new pier.

The new pier replaced the old one located between the Nature Center and Mary Lee Park after the old pier fell into disrepair. Funding for the renovation project was approved by the voters in San Angelo after a referendum passed last year.
