100+ Degree Days Forecast Through the End of July

SAN ANGELO – Friday marks ten straight days where the afternoon high temperature soared above 100 degrees and that string could run through at least the end of July.  The city has seen a total of 14 days of temps above 100 degrees so far in 2023.

The Concho Valley is again under a Heat Advisory Friday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m as the high temperature is forecast to reach 108.  Saturday will be hotter at 110 and Sunday 112.

Expect that Heat Advisory to be extended each afternoon through next Thursday.  The advisory could be upgraded to an Excessive Heat Warning again as early tomorrow.

Conditions this hot are dangerous and bordering on deadly.  Experts advise all outdoor activities be scheduled in the early morning or late afternoon hours if at all possible.  For those working or participating in outdoor activities each afternoon, stay hydrated, drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, wear long sleeves, a hat and gloves.  Check on vulnerable relatives and take care of pets and children.

Never leave a child or a pet in a locked vehicle in west Texas.

Make sure all outdoor critters have plenty of shade, fresh water and food.  Don't be cruel.

There will be some thunderstorm activity this afternoon in the vicinity but it will be isolated.  Just be aware that every storm that develops has the potential to become severe and will contain high winds and lightning.  Hail and even a tornado will be possible as well. It's that time in Texas.
