SAN ANGELO – Afternoon high temperatures Thursday in the Concho Valley will reach at least 105 degrees prompting experts with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo to issue another Heat Advisory in effect from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A strong ridge of high pressure has parked over West Texas. The heat will continue to increase and is forecast to reach 109 degrees Monday afternoon. Heat Advisories will likely be issued and Excessive Heat Warnings will be issued as criteria meet NWS thresholds over the weekend into next week.
Temperatures this high create dangerous conditions for people and animals. Residents are advised to avoid the sun when possible, drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms and avoid all outdoor activities during the heat of the day.
Make sure outdoor pets have plenty of shade, fresh water and food. Better yet, put pets inside with you. Check on vulnerable neighbors, friends and family.
This is is a dangerous weather situation and will last for several days. Temperatures are forecast to reach over 100 degrees everyday until at least the middle of July.
