Flash Flood Warning Issued for San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO – The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for the City of San Angelo effective until 12:15 a.m.

Shortly after 9 p.m. a severe thunderstorm system was active over the city of San Angelo with up to 1 inch of rain already recorded.  Another 2 inches is expected with this storm.  

Flash Flooding is occurring citywide and will continue for the next several hours.  Do not drive unless you absolutely have too. 

Emergency communications reports indicate First Responders are performing water rescues at Howard and Forest Park, College Hills and Oxford, College Hills and Champions Circle. 

Police Issued a Nixle Alert at 9:30 p.m. to shut down all of College Hills Blvd. from Valleyview to Ave. N.  because of multiple water rescues in the work zones and at low water crossings.  

This is a very dangerous and life threatening situation.
