BALLINGER – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo is reporting small to medium sized hail up to golfball size pounded Ballinger and the surrounding area Saturday afternoon before moving off to the east as a strong cold front blew through the Concho Valley.
"Looks like lots of small to medium size hail (up to golf balls) with a few bigger piece in there as well. If anyone saw anything as big as baseballs or larger...dont hesitate to let us know or reply directly here." the NWS wrote on social media Saturday afternoon.
That cold front brought much cooler temperatures to the entire area and the Big Country and Concho Valley were under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
Some eastern Concho Valley Counties saw heavy rain and hail including the Brady and San Saba areas. The storm system was still producing rain Sunday morning as it moves off the the east.
There is an 80% chance of more rain throughout the day Sunday with temperatures reaching the lower 50s and northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph and gusty.
No severe weather is expected Sunday in the Concho Valley.
Rain chances taper off early next week.
