NWS: Strong Cold Front Will Bring First Freeze Friday Night

SAN ANGELO – A strong cold front will bring the first widespread freeze of the fall season to West Texas beginning Thursday night with strong winds and a chance for thunderstorms.

According to the latest information from the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, a strong cold front will move into this area tonight.  Temperatures will drop to around 50 degrees Thursday night then to the upper 40s on Veterans Day morning with strong, gusty north winds and a few scattered showers.

Friday night the temperature is forecast to drop to around 30 degrees in San Angelo and the upper 20s in rural areas of the Concho Valley.

The cold weather will hang around all weekend with temperatures struggling to reach 60 degrees Saturday and Sunday.  Look for another cold front to enter the area Monday night and keep the cool fall like weather for the next several days.

Experts recommend moving sensitive plants inside and making sure outdoor pets have shelter and water.

This is a dynamic weather situation.  Stay tuned for updates throughout the next several days.
