SAN ANGELO – Two dynamic weather systems will converge across West Texas Thursday night to create showers and thunderstorms which could lead to flash flooding in some areas toward daybreak Friday.
An upper level area of low pressure coming in from the northwest will combine with a moist Pacific cold front over far West Texas late Thursday creating enough instability to kickoff scattered thunderstorms. Those storms should intensify and spread over the area roughly between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m according to information from the latest weather models.
The possibility of severe weather should end Friday morning but showers and thunderstorms could linger well into the afternoon hours. By late Friday night into Saturday, cooler and dryer weather will prevail.
The chance of rain is 70% tonight with an inch of rain possible with higher amounts with the most intense thunderstorms. There is a 40% chance of rain Friday ending by sundown.
Saturday will be the coolest day with a high in the upper 60s and a low Saturday night around 43. It will warm up on Sunday with temperatures rising back into the mid 70s.
Halloween night is shaping up to be mild with clear skies and temperatures in the upper 50s.
This is a dynamic weather situation and we will update this information as conditions change Thursday and Friday.
