Much Needed Rain Fell Sunday Followed by the Coolest Temps of the Season

SAN ANGELO – The City of San Angelo was inundated with rainfall overnight with more forecast on Monday accompanied by the coolest temperatures of the fall season.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service office in San Angelo emptied 1.2 inches of rain out of their gauge at midnight Sunday night which makes a total of 1.5 inches for October.  That puts the city at 9.08 inches for the year which is still a whopping 8.67 inches below normal as the drought continues.

There is a 70% chance of additional rain throughout the day with waves of thunderstorms coming in from the west.  Expect an additional half and inch or so of rain Monday.

The cold front which brought the welcomed rain also brought the season's coolest temperatures.  Expect highs Monday and Tuesday around 65 degrees with the coldest night Tuesday night with temps falling into the upper 30s in rural areas and around 40 degrees at the airport.

Weather conditions return to somewhat seasonal normals beginning Wednesday with a warming trend. The first freeze in San Angelo normally occurs about a month from now on Nov. 10.  There is no rain in the forecast after Monday night.
