Area Lakes & Reservoirs Continue to Suffer from Drought Despite Recent Rains

SAN ANGELO – The National Weather Service is reporting lakes and reservoirs across West Central Texas continue to recede as drought conditions persist in spite of some areas receiving heavy rainfall over the last week.

On a social media post, The NWS said after the last few days, some of our reservoirs got a little water, including Lake Stamford, O.H. Ivie, and Brady Creek. Overall, however, our lakes have definitely seen better days after this very hot and dry summer.

This graphic shows the current reservoir capacities as of August 24th and the change in the capacities over the last month.

There is currently no significant chance for measurable precipitation in the short or long range forecasts for West Texas.
