SAN ANGELO – San Angelo Emergency Medical Personnel were dispatched several times Thursday evening to the Bill Aylor River Stage to attend to concert goers suffering from heat related illnesses.
According to emergency communications, ambulances were on standby at the country music concert as temperatures were still above 100 degrees when the music began. Over the course of three hours, ambulances were dispatched to the river stage several times for patients passed out from the heat.
It is unknown if any of the patients were taken to the hospital but several were treated at the scene. Some of the reports were specifically for females who were passed out but 'conscious and breathing.' Most were revived at the scene.
Texas Country music artist Parker McCollum performed Thursday night at the River Stage. Unofficial estimates are that 3,500 people, mostly teenagers and young adults, were in attendance.
The rash of heat related illnesses at the outdoor concert occurred as the National Weather Service office in San Angelo extended the Heat Advisory from Friday evening to Saturday evening at 8 p.m. as the string of 100 degree days goes on with little relief in sight.
The forecast calls for temperatures to hit 105 degrees Friday and remain stay around 104 to 106 through Tuesday.
There is a slight chance of some scattered thunderstorms Saturday afternoon to early Sunday morning but those storms will have no effect on afternoon high temperatures region wide.
The Heat Advisory could be upgraded to an Excessive Heat Warning as early as Friday.
Remember to stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks in the shade if you're participating in activities outdoors for the next several days. Stay in an air conditioned building if at all possible and check on vulnerable friends and family.
And never, ever leave a child or a pet in a hot car, not even for a minute. That could lead to serious injury or death and it is a crime.
This is a serious and dynamic weather situation.

In my youth I went to several concerts. I have seen several people pass out but, it usually wasn't from the heat.
