One LONG Delivery; Abilene Zoo Welcomes a New Baby Giraffe

 

ABILENE- A new, healthy baby giraffe was born at the Abilene Zoo on Friday.

Jamie the giraffe, a now 3-time mom, went into labor inside the zoo’s Giraffe Safari habitat at about 1:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, then was taken into the Giraffe Barn. The baby girl giraffe was born at 1:50 p.m.

The calf is reportedly six feet tall and stood up about half an hour after being born. The baby will be checked on regularly and a name has not yet been decided.
