Relentless Heat & Drought Continues to Bake West Texas With No End in Sight

SAN ANGELO – Another Heat Advisory has been issued for West Central Texas as the Lone Star State bakes under an unrelenting heat wave evaporating precious water, withering crops and straining resources.

A stubborn ridge of high pressure continues to concentrate heat across the state pushing afternoon high temperatures again above the 100 degree mark.  Humidities will rise today forcing heat index values up which is why the Heat Advisory has been issued and will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

This is a dangerous situation.  Heat related illnesses are possible anywhere.  Residents are advised to take frequent breaks when working or recreating outdoors, drink plenty of fluids and stay in the shade or in an air-conditioned room.

Pets are especially vulnerable in the heat.  If you can't bring pets inside, you must provide them with plenty of fresh water and shade if possible.  Animal cruelty is a serious crime.

And never, ever leave a child or a pet in a locked car, not even for a few minutes.

There are no significant chances in the long-term forecast.  This heat wave will last another ten days, so be prepared for additional advisories and warnings.
