Mesquite Heat Wildfire Now 100% Contained

 

ABILENE – The Texas A&M Forest Service announced Sunday that the Mesquite Heat wildfire south of Abilene is now 100% contained.   

According to the Lone Star State Incident Management Team, Texas A&M Forest Service and Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) firefighters responded to new wildfires while also continuing suppression operation on carryover fires. 

The Mesquite Heat Fire in Taylor County is now 100% contained. All state resources have been released and the fire has transitioned back to the local unit.

Active Fires:

- Midpoint Fire, Oldham County - est. 2,750 acres, 60% contained

Contained Fires (100%):

- Mesquite Heat Fire, Taylor County - 10,960 acres

- Nappin Cowboy Fire, Bell County - 15.1 acres

- Slip and Slide Fire, Clay County - 11.4 acres
