Drought Conditions Create Extreme Wildfire Danger in the Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO – Hope for drought ending rainfall has again given way to warnings of extreme wildfire danger across the Concho Valley after Sunday night severe storms failed to provide significant precipitation across the region.

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, extreme wildfire conditions will exist along and west of a line from Haskell to San Angelo to Ozona today.

Gusty high winds will combine with very dry fuel and low humidity to enhance the chance that any wildfire that is kindled will spread rapidly.

The western counties of the Concho Valley are under a Fire Danger Advisory from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.

Another cold front will move through the area Wednesday and forecast models show a dry line forming to the west again and move east across the Concho Valley bringing another chance for precipitation and severe weather.
