Drought Watch: Another Dangerous Day for West Texas Wildfires

SAN ANGELO – Dangerously dry conditions continue across West Texas Wednesday as high winds will once again create conditions favorable for wildfires to spread.

The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a Red Flag Warning for all of West Central Texas from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

While high temperatures will stay around 80 degrees Wednesday, southwest winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph and gusty and combine with low humidity and extremely dry fuel sources again to create dangerous wildfire conditions.

Any wildfire which sparks has the potential to quickly grow out of control.  Every type of outdoor burning or activity which may create a spark is highly discouraged.

Similar conditions will exist for the next ten days with no rain in the forecast.

A Red Flag Warning means dangerous wildfire conditions will occur during the warned period.
