Red Flag Warning Issued for the Northern Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a Red Flag Warning for northern Concho Valley counties and the Big Country for Thursday.

According to the NWS, northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph will gust to 45 mph across the region combining with relative humidities of 9 percent and critically dry fuels to create extreme wildfire danger all day.

The Red Flag Warning is in effect north and east of a line stretching from Sterling City to Junction but does not include the city of San Angelo or Tom Green County.  The warned area is under the extreme wildfire warning from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical wildfire conditions are occurring.  That combination of strong winds, low humidity and extremely dry fuel will contribute to extreme wildfire behavior.
