NWS: Thunderstorms Possible Across the Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO – Sunday is forecast to be a typical spring day with temperatures reaching 90 degrees and south winds at 5 to 15 mph but thunderstorms will blow into the area Sunday night into Monday.  

According to meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, a dry line will develop off to the west and gradually move into the Big County and Concho Valley Sunday night.  

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the western half of the area Sunday afternoon with a few severe storms mainly west of an Albany to San Angelo to Sonora line.  

The main weather threats will be large hail, damaging winds and dangerous lightning. 

A cold front will slowly drift into the area from the north Monday.  There will be enough instability in the atmosphere to develop showers and thunderstorms across the Big Country, the Concho Valley and the northwest Hill Country Monday afternoon. 

Showers and thunderstorms are likely after 1 p.m. Monday afternoon.  High temperatures will be in the mid 70s.  There is a 60 percent chance of rain Monday afternoon into the evening hours.  There is a 30 percent chance of rain Monday night.  

Tuesday will be dry with high temperatures around 90 degrees.  By Wednesday, a strong cold front will make its way into the region dropping temperatures to the mid 70s.  There in no rain chance in the forecast Tuesday through Saturday.
