NWS: Winter Hangs on with a Hard Freeze Early Saturday Morning

SAN ANGELO – A strong arctic cold front has blown into the Concho Valley bringing wind chill values in the single digits but little frozen precipitation Friday morning.

The cold front made its way into the Concho Valley overnight with strong north winds and temperatures in the 30s which combined to drive wind chill values into the teens and single digits.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo say temperatures will stay steady in the 30s all day Friday with a very slight chance of a dusting of a wintery mix sleet and snow.  No accumulations are expected.

Temperatures will drop to the teens Friday night to create a hard freeze Saturday morning.  Motorists are urged to drive with caution when approaching bridges and overpasses and sensitive young plants could be frozen.

Temperatures will warm up Sunday and combine with strong gusty winds and low humidities to increase wildfire danger through the middle of the week.
