Winter Weather Advisory Issued for the Concho Valley Ahead of Bitter Cold & Freezing Rain

 

SAN ANGELO – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Concho Valley from Tuesday night through Thursday.  

According to the NWS, a strong cold front will blow into the Concho Valley Tuesday evening bringing with in the chance for sleet and freezing rain.  The freezing rain or sleet will be light Tuesday night and will increase and intensify Wednesday through early Thursday morning.  

Plan on deteriorating road conditions as ice accumulations increase from a slight glaze to a few tenths of an inch by Thursday morning.  Icy road conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes region wide. 

A Winter Weather Advisory for sleet and freezing rain means that periods of sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. 

Be prepared for slippery roads, reduce speed and allow extra distance between vehicles. Even a thin glaze of ice can cause hazardous driving conditions.
