Snowmageddon II: NWS Issues Winter Storm Watch As Dangerous Conditions Loom

 

SAN ANGELO – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Concho Valley Wednesday and Thursday ahead of a power cold front which is forecast to dump up to three inches of snow across the area. 

Meteorologists with the NWS San Angelo office issued the Winter Storm Watch effective from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon.  

Snow and freezing rain accumulations of one to three inches is forecast for the area and the conditions will allow for a hard freezing glaze of ice on area roadways. 

Travel will be difficult across the region. The severe weather will impact the morning and evening commute.  Wind Chill Values of 10 degrees below zero will be possible.  

Ice accumulations on power lines and tree limbs could lead to power outages and hazards in roadways.  

Residents are urged to plan now for the severe weather.  Protect outdoor pipes, pets and plants.  Make sure you have plenty of fuel, food and water for the duration of the weather event.  

This is a developing and potentially dangerous weather situation.
