AUSTIN – Texas Forest Service firefighting crews have responded to several locations across the state Saturday as wind-driven wildfires kept volunteer firefighters busy.

Wildfire Update – January 15, 2022 7:30 pm
Across the state, firefighters were busy with multiple requests for assistance on wildfires. State and local firefighters responded to several new fires with active fire behavior as a result of the strong winds that were forecast for today. However, ground crews made great progress in suppressing these wildfires throughout the day. Aviation resources were ordered to support several fires and made beneficial retardant drops to help slow the spread of the flames and protect structures.

- Chapman Fire, Williamson County - 171 acres, 95% contained
- Green Road Fire, Bexar County - 480 acres, 90% contained
- Martin Fire, Young County - est. 800 acres, 80% contained

- Mill Creek Fire, Shackelford County - 1,696 acres
- Mariah Ridge Fire, Callahan County - 586 acres
- Van Winkle Fire, Clay County - 83 acres
- Church Road Fire, Parker County - 20 acres
- Baker Fire, Parker County - 45 acres
- Wofford Fire, DeWitt County - 51 acres
- Carbon Camp Fire, Hutchinson County - 177 acres
- Lone Star Fire, Brazos County - 38 acres
- Cass 0906, Cass County - 1 acre
- Wood 1022, Wood County - 29 acres
- Morris 1105, Morris County - 20 acres
- Sun Tide Fire, Refugio County - 50 acres
