NWS Issues First Freeze Warning of the Season for the Concho Valley Tonight

SAN ANGELO – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued the first Freeze Warning of the season for the Concho Valley from midnight tonight to 8 a.m. Friday morning.

Now is the time to protect your pets, plants and pipes.

According to the NWS, sub-freezing temperatures of 30 to 32 degrees will be widespread and can cause crop damage.

Frost and freeze conditions can harm sensitive crops and outdoor plants and could harm unprotected plumbing.

Make sure any pets left outdoors have plenty of shelter and access to food and water.

A Freeze Warning means sub-freezing temperatures are occurring or imminent.  Meteorologists urge residents to protect vulnerable vegetation now.  Residents also should wrap outdoor pipes and drain any water lines not in use.

In-ground sprinkler systems should be drained and above ground plumbing should be covered.

Temperatures are expected to fall to the mid 30s after dark Thursday evening and remain there from midnight to mid morning Friday morning.

No precipitation is expected with this first freeze event.
