SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has extended the Flash Flood Warning for the city of San Angelo and the surrounding area Tuesday morning through noon.
At 6:08 a.m. doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
At 7:46 a.m. doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Additional heavy rainfall will cause flash flooding of streams, low water crossings and roads.
Life threatening flash flooding is occurring. Thunderstorms are producing flash flooding according to local radar. Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include San Angelo, Mertzon, Christoval, Knickerbocker, Sherwood, Tankersley and Twin Buttes Reservoir.
Flash flooding is occurring in small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include the San Angelo State Park, Arden, Twin Buttes Reservoir and Grape Creek.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
There is a chance of continued showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.
