NWS: Wintery Mix May Refreeze Roadways Tonight

SAN ANGELO, TX – A wintery mix of sleet and freezing rain Tuesday afternoon and evening will refreeze overnight and may create hazardous driving conditions Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, a wintery mix will be possible again overnight.  Below freezing temperatures overnight will allow icy spots to redevelop across area roadways.  Bridges and overpasses will be the first to refreeze overnight.

Several area schools and businesses closed Tuesday because of the freezing rain and sleet Monday night.

San Angelo Police reported Loop 306 bridges and overpasses were icy and hazardous Tuesday morning.

The forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of precipitation Tuesday night with temperatures in the lower 30s.

This is a developing weather situation.
