NWS: Thunderstorms Developing in Tom Green County

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Thunderstorms are developing around the San Angelo area Wednesday afternoon according to the National Weather Service office at Mathis Field.

At 430 p.m. Wednesday doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Wall, or 13 miles southeast of San Angelo, moving northeast at 10 mph.

Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

This strong thunderstorm will be near Vancourt around 4:45 p.m., Veribest around 5:20 and Mereta around 5:30 p.m.

Other locations impacted by this storm include Harriet.

There is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms through 10 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon and evening across much of West Central Texas.

The main hazards will be strong wind gusts, hail and deadly lightning.
