Welcome to West Texas: Severe Thunderstorms Overnight with Critical Fire Weather Conditions During the Day

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Severe weather is possible across parts of the Concho Valley including San Angelo Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning with critical fire weather on Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, Isolated thunderstorms will be possible east of an Albany to Bronte to Sonora line Tuesday. The main hazard will be large hail. Thunderstorms will be possible again late tonight into early Wednesday morning. A few storms may be severe, with damaging winds and large hail being the main hazards. Wednesday through Monday, Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible east of a Brownwood to Mason line Wednesday morning into the early afternoon. The main hazards will be large hail and damaging winds.

Critical fire weather conditions will be possible late Wednesday morning through early Wednesday evening across Irion County and the Northern Edwards Plateau region due to dry fuels, low humidity and gusty west winds.

Here is the convoluted forecast starting early Wednesday morning: there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Throughout the day Wednesday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 89. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
