November 2 Launches Opening Season for White-tailed Deer

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The first day of White Tail Deer Hunting Season is today. 

According to the Texas Department of Wildlife, on November 2, in the state of Texas, with a hunting license, you can legally shoot and kill a White-tailed Deer. 

Remember the most important thing about hunting is hunter's safety. Here are a few tips to help keep you safe. 

1. Always keep the barrel of your firearm pointed in a safe direction
2. Don’t rely on your gun’s safety. Treat all firearms as if they’re loaded and ready to fire.
3. Be sure of your target and what’s beyond it.
4. Do not use alcohol or drugs while handling a firearm.
5. Never cross a fence, climb a tree or stand or jump a ditch with a loaded gun.
6. Watch your muzzle so the other hunter doesn’t have to.
7. Dress for the weather. 
8. Know the range of your firearm. Remember, even a .22 rim fire can travel over 1-1/2 miles.
9. Don’t shoot unless absolutely sure of your target and what is beyond it.
