Wildfires Burn Thousands of Acres Across the Concho Valley

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Volunteer firefighters in Tom Green and Irion Counties joined crews from the Texas Forest Service to knock down two wildfires that burned thousands of acres Tuesday. 

According to the Texas Forest Service, the Rocking Chair Ranch in southeastern Tom Green County burned 1,000 acres and was 60 percent contained last night. 

The Noelke Fire in Irion County burned an estimated 3,200 acres and was mostly contained last night. 

Texas Forest Service crews were on scene watching the fire overnight along with one unit from the Irion County VFD at last report. 

Crews from the Christoval VFD, Pecan Creek VFD, Wall VFD and Irion County VFD were deployed to the wildfires. 

The wildfire danger continues to be high across West Texas as triple digit heat and dry conditions continue.
