Brown County Officials Searching for Anyone Who Possibly Came in Contact with Rabid Bat
BROWNWOOD, TX -- Officials in Brown County are looking for people who may have come in contact with a rabid bat after an encounter in early May.
According to KTXS, Brownwood Police Chief James Fuller said the bat was found injured in the Walmart parking lot by a group of teenagers on May 4. The group put it in a box to take it home and help it recover.
Their mom denied the teens' attempt to bring the bat in the house and called animal control. An officer with animal control took the bat and it tested positive for rabies.
Anyone who touched or handled the bat is encouraged to call the Brown County Health Department at 325-646-0554.
